I have 10 years of combined experience using ESRI ArcGIS both educationally and professionally.  I specialize in creating figures in ArcMap, ranging from simple site plans and site location maps, to more complex sample location maps with analytical result databoxes and groundwater flow/isopleth maps.  I also have experience in creating/updating/managing metadata in ArcCatalog and utilizing Golden Software’s Surfer to create groundwater contours and isopleths that are then imported into ArcMap.

 

What is GIS?  GIS, or Geographic Information Systems/Science, is a computer system for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on Earth’s surface.  GIS specializes in showing many different kinds of data on one map, which enables individuals to more easily see, analyze, and understand patterns and relationships.
